Meets NCTM Standards:
Features a TI Calculator
Lesson Summary:

In this calculator skill lesson, you will learn how to generate an identity matrix on your graphing calculator, and how to use it in various calculations. The identity matrix is a square matrix with ones on the diagonal and zeros everywhere else. By multiplying a matrix by the identity matrix, you will get the same matrix back, as long as the identity matrix is the same dimension. This is a useful tool in Input/Output analysis and other mathematical calculations.

Lesson Description:

Learn how to generate and use an Identity matrix on a graphing calculator (for example, in Input/Output analysis) (MATRIX/MATH/Identity).

This lesson shows you how to force a TI graphing calculator to generate an identity matrix for you, and all you have to do is specify the dimensions. This is a very useful tool so you do not have to manually enter the 1s and 0s yourself each time.
