In this lesson, we learn how to find the volume and surface area of a pyramid with a rectangular base. The formula for finding the total surface area of a pyramid is to take one half the length, which is the length of a side from the base to the tip, times the perimeter of the base, plus the area of the base. To find the volume, we use the formula of one third times the area of the base times the height. While this example uses a rectangular base, the same formulas can be applied to pyramids with other bases.
