Lesson Summary:

In this lesson on percents, we learn the meaning of percent and how to write it as a fraction or decimal. The percent symbol can be thought of as "per 100," or "out of 100," and can be replaced with "divided by 100." To write a percent as a fraction, we simply write it as a numerator over 100 and reduce it. To write a percent as a decimal, we move the decimal point two places to the left. The lesson provides several examples and offers shortcuts for those who want to bypass the extra steps.
