In this lesson, we learn how to solve a one step equation by subtracting with a double negative. We are reminded that two negative signs next to each other cancel each other out and can be rewritten as a positive. Using inverse operations, we undo what is happening to the variable and solve for x. By subtracting 74 from both sides, we are left with x equaling negative 96. This lesson provides a clear and simple explanation for solving one step equations with subtraction.
