Lesson Summary:

In this lesson, the concept of graphing ordered pairs or plotting points in the coordinate plane is reviewed. Students learn to label the units on the x and y axes, which represent left to right and up and down positions, respectively. Starting at the origin, students are taught to move left or right, which determines a negative or positive value on the x-axis, and then move up or down, which determines a negative or positive value on the y-axis. Through the plotting of various ordered pairs, students are able to better understand the concept of graphing in the coordinate plane.

This lesson explains graphing in the coordinate plane. It goes over the x-axis, y-axis, and each part of a coordinate pair and how you determine where a point goes on the plane. This is a very basic plotting points video. Several ordered pairs are plotted and explained.
