Meets NCTM Standards:
Lesson Summary:

In this introductory lesson on graphing, students will learn about the rectangular coordinate system, or the XY plane, which is created by intersecting a horizontal and vertical number line. Students will learn how to identify the X and Y axis and the origin, and how to plot points on the plane using ordered pairs. The lesson also covers the four quadrants and how to read and write ordered pairs.

Lesson Description:

This video is an introduction to the Rectangular Coordinate System and covers the basic vocabulary, definitions, ordered pairs, and how to plot points on the x-y plane. This is part 1 of a series of videos about graphing lines.
