Lesson Summary:

In this lesson, we learn how to identify various algebraic forms such as linear, quadratic, exponential, logistic, rational, or other. We see how to convert English language instructions into algebraic symbols and abbreviations, and how to recognize different forms using symbols. The lesson also covers the standard and vertex form of a quadratic and mentions the exponential and logistic forms. Although the exponential and logistic forms are not taught in detail in this lesson, the lesson provides a good foundation for recognizing and identifying these forms in the future.

Lesson Description:

Given a functional form, be able to identify whether it is linear, quadratic, exponential, logistic, rational, or other.

This lesson shows a very useful skill - how to take a function and determine what type of function it is. There are a limited few types of functions that you will be considering for this lesson (and in this series), and these are some of the most common types of functions. It is very helpful to be able to identify these functions and know how they behave.
