Lesson Summary:

This lesson teaches how to solve one-step equations using the subtraction property of equality. The first step is to circle the variable and identify the operation being added or subtracted to it. The next step is to use the inverse operation, in this case, subtraction, to isolate the variable. By subtracting the same number from both sides of the equation, the variable becomes isolated and the solution can be found. This method can be used for any one-step equation involving addition or subtraction.
