In this lesson, we learn how to simplify rational expressions by using properties of exponents. Dividing two exponents is as simple as subtracting one from the other. Additionally, x divided by x equals one, and x to the first power is the same as the single x. By applying these rules, we can simplify expressions like negative seven w to the seventh divided by six w to the fourth to negative seven divided by six w to the third.
