In this lesson, we learn how to solve an equation with a variable on both sides. The first step is to simplify the equation, which can be done by factoring, getting rid of fractions, or using the distributive property. Next, we need to move the variable to one side of the equation. It's recommended to move it to the left side unless it would result in a negative variable. Finally, we solve for the variable by using basic algebraic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
