In this lesson, we learn how to solve word problems involving the lengths of a triangle. The first step is to read the problem in its entirety and determine what the question is asking. Next, we choose a variable to represent the smallest side of the triangle and define the other sides in terms of that variable. Then, we write an equation using the perimeter of the triangle and solve for the variable. Finally, we use the value of the variable to find the lengths of all sides of the triangle. The key takeaway is to approach word problems systematically and use only one variable to solve them.
