In this lesson, you will learn how to solve word problems by creating an equation and using a variable. The first step is to identify the question and assign a variable to represent the unknown number. Then, you create an equation based on the information given in the problem. You can then use the distributive property and solve for the variable to determine the value of the unknown number.
