In part 2 of the fractions lesson, the focus is on simplifying and reducing fractions to their lowest terms. The two methods discussed are finding a common factor and prime factoring each number. The latter method is especially helpful if the common factor is not immediately obvious. The lesson also includes several examples and practice problems to reinforce understanding. One important takeaway is to always include a factor of 1 if canceling out all the factors in the denominator.

    This lesson goes over several more examples of simplifying fractions and writing them in lowest terms. All steps are explained very clearly. These problems are larger and more difficult to determine what numbers the numerator and denominator have in common. This is a great lesson to challenge yourself with to make sure you understanding reducing fractions.
