In part 2 of the fractions lesson, the focus is on simplifying and reducing fractions to their lowest terms. The two methods discussed are finding a common factor and prime factoring each number. The latter method is especially helpful if the common factor is not immediately obvious. The lesson also includes several examples and practice problems to reinforce understanding. One important takeaway is to always include a factor of 1 if canceling out all the factors in the denominator.
