Lesson Summary:

In this lesson, we learn about multiplying a binomial by a binomial using the FOIL method and the Smiley Face Method. The FOIL method involves multiplying the first, outer, inner, and last terms of two binomials, while the Smiley Face Method involves drawing a smiley face and multiplying the terms that connect at the arcs. Both methods result in the same answer, and it ultimately depends on personal preference. We go through examples of each method and learn how to add like terms to get the final answer.

Lesson Description:

Part 4 of Multiplying Polynomials covers how to multiply a binomial by a binomial using the FOIL method and a Smiley Face Method.

The FOIL and smiley face methods are explained and used to multiply binomials in this lesson. These methods are very common for multiplying binomials, but they do not work for larger polynomials. This is a great tutorial for these methods.
