In this lesson, we start off with a review of factors and greatest common factors using integers, and then move on to factoring polynomials. We learn how to find the prime factorization of a number through factor trees and how to determine if a number is prime by checking all the prime numbers up to its square root. We also learn how to find the greatest common factor of two or more integers through prime factorization, and then apply this knowledge to polynomials. The lesson ends with an introduction to factoring by grouping or using the distributive property.
